Abu Dhabi Classics: 'Israel Philharmonic Orchestra: Gala Concert'

  • 25 Nov - 25 Nov
Bronislaw Huberman founded the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in 1936. Huberman organized a professional orchestra of symphony musicians of the highest calibre. It included some of Europe's best Jewish symphonic performers. Arturo Toscanini performed the opening concerts in December 1936, and again in April 1937. The orchestra has performed with some of the most prominent classical musicians, including Valery Gergiev and Pinchas Zukerman. The orchestra has been under the artistic guidance of Lahav Shani since 2020, who was the Chief Conductor of Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. Abu Dhabi Classics will present its first concert in the region. This is in keeping with the tradition of Abu Dhabi Classics creating high-quality artistic events for the Gulf region. The IPO will perform Gustav Mahler’s magnificent Symphony No. 1 for its only night-only performance in Abu Dhabi Capital. 1. The symphony was composed between 1884-1888. It was inspired by works from the German romantic period. The work was also intended to be a tone poem in symphonic format, according to Mahler. The symphony, which was nicknamed "Titan" in reference to Jean Paul Richter’s novel, is a beautiful introduction to Mahler’s musical language and provides the perfect program for a truly historic evening of music.
